The top photo shows a cardboard template that I made for the section that needed to be replaced. Though I had bought the complete inner panel it did not seem to be shaped properly and it was easier to make what I needed rather than rework the new panel. I bought the complete sill and pillar assemblies for both sides from Moss. The fit was terrible. I ended up disassembling both sides by removing the spot welds and rewelding them. For example the face of the rear door pillar should have a 5 degree rotation toward the rear, they came with a 5 degree rotation forward. Also the sills themselves were welded so that when laid on a flat surface ( re- member the side of the car you attach the sills to is a flat surface ) one flange was 3/8" off the surface. I had to remove the end caps, shape them so that both flanges would contact a flat surface and reweld. They were better than starting from scratch but still a lot of work to get a proper fit. By all accounts I've heard the sills from Todd Clarke are much better. I don't think he does the posts, however, but these can be bought separately from Moss, Scarborough Faire, or Victoria British. If I were doing it over (and I will be when I do |
